What's in a number?
When the shirts are dished out before a match there are some players who always get the same number. Some would say that this is so because people are creatures of habit and the superstitious believe in the 'lucky shirt. Some may claim that they choose a particular number because it is the same number as Tony Adams or even Willie Morgan (an older member obviously) [note for youth team: he played for Man Poo before you were born]. But is there more to it? Scratch the surface and you often find something nasty, sticky and painful underneath. Gladys Central has taken a closer look at 'what's in a number' and has come up with some interesting 'coincidences'...
Gladys Big Ears wears number 6 - a brand of cigarette. If we wear orange socks next season, her little legs will resemble a couple of fags... Gladys Terminator wears number 5 - a perfume. Is this an irony or a subtle message? Gladys Pink wears number 3 - the same number of sides as a triangle. Gladys Pink manoevres through her love life by a process of triangulation... Gladys Guff wears number 7 - the same name as Boots own brand of cosmetics. Boots is a chemist. With her arse we recommend she visits one... Gladys Lightbody often wears number 9 - the same number of lives as a cat. Spookily 9% of Gladys Lightbody's fleece is made up of cat hair... Gladys Manager (er, manager) wears number 12 - she has remained exactly the same height since she was twelve... Gladys Scissorhands (Dave Save) wears number 1 - and she is a one!
